Itsukinomiya Hall for Historical Experience
This is a place where you can experience firsthand the lifestyle of the Heian period when the prosperity of Saiku flourished. The Hall itself is modeled after the residences of the administrative officials, built with wood in a traditional method of construction (using no steel nails), and is itself a means to take in the architecture of an ancient era.
At the Hall, in addition to trying on the costumes of Heian-period Aristocracy and experience playing such traditional games as Sugoroku, visitors can take workshops to learn about the festivities, technology and culture of that era. Also, events such as the "Jugoya Kangetsukai" (Moon Viewing Event) and "Tsuina Matsuri" (Festival to Drive Away Demons) are held periodically at the hall.
Moreover, in the Saiku Ato Roman Hiroba, located to the north of the Hall, there is a 1/10 scale historical model of the whole area of ancient Saiku. In this model, even the central residential building where the Saio resided and other important buildings are represented at a 1/10 scale.
Visitors to the Hall can sense the grandeur of Saiku and take in the sights of the building and models in the same way that Gulliver did in his travels.
