New Generation of Contemporary Art
2 July - 7 August 1983 Hours: 9:30a.m.- 5:00 p.m. As one of tasks of a museum of art in its initiatory stage, we presented an exhibition introducing various activities of contemporary arts, focusing mainly on artists in some relation with Tokai district and younger than 40 years-old. After Mono-ha and Conceptual Art, artists of younger generation in Japan could not regard artistic activity as self-evident. But in contrast to conceptual and reductionist approach prevailing in Japanese art scene of 1970s, here they appeared to show some tendencies which gave importance to dialogues with materiality and images in dynamic becoming. |
