Saeki Yuzo(1898-1928) died at Paris. Notwithstanding his too early decease, even now his works appeal us very much. Being conscious of death getting near, his works were finished with so amzing speed as to fill his painting with peculiar sense of tension and rhythm. This retrospective exhibition is constituted of about 95 works, focusing on painting realized during his stay at Paris amounted to 3 years, including his representative works and at the same time works not introduced until now. Moreover, we also present about 30 works by painters in friendly relation with Saeki, such as Satomi Katsuzo, Nakayama Takashi, Yamada Shin-ichi and Ogisu Takanori, .so that one expect to discern Saeki's originality and their mutual influences.
