OHASHI Ayumi(1940- ), whose multi-facetted activity extends from illustrator, designer to writer, can be regarded as an artist always anticipating atmospheres desired by each periods with her characteristic sensibility. Born at Mie, soon after graduation of Tama University of Fine Arts, she designed series of cover for tha magazine Heibon Punch, symbol of the youth culture of the 1960's. In those days this magazine was very influential, and public attention was attracted upon acute sensibility toward fashions of each periods reperesented by Ohashi's cover designs. Afterwards she participated in designs for poster of Pink House, publicities for Mitsui Bank and Tokyo Gas. With these activities images of Ohashi's works permeated our daily life. Moreover her essays on life are popular, too. Her uncompromised and refined life-style wins broad support. In a periodical Arne, founded on 2002, she holds posts of planning, collectiong and editing. By it she is gaining new support of generations seisitive to fashon. This exhibition should show comprehensive aspects of Ohashi's carrier, through about 350 works such as works as student, recent installation, illustrations, Arne, objets and so forth. |
