Exhibition Overview
Pop Art dominated the American art scene in the 1960s, incorporating motifs and images from everyday life, such as news photographs, commercial advertisements, mass-market product packaging, and celebrity portraits, into fine art. Roy Lichtenstein(1923-1997) , Andy Warhol(1928-1987), Robert Rauschenberg(1925-2008), Jasper Johns(1930-) were artists who led the pop art movement. They transformed the face of art and society through their involvement with popular culture and rock music in a tumultuous era of war and social problems.
This exhibition will feature approximately 120 prints, posters, and clothing items from the collection of Spanish collector Joseluis Ruperez.
Drawing a parallel to The Beatles, who also rose to fame in the 1960s, the exhibition presents Lichtenstein, Warhol, Rauschenberg, Johns as The Fabulous 4. The exhibition focuses on their works in Ruperez's collection to trace the trajectory of pop art, a genre that changed the times.
