Explanation

Born in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, Asano Yae spent most of his life in his hometown, except for three periods of military service. He devoted himself to abstract painting, and became one of the leading abstract painters in the Tokai region.
In this work, he applied white paint evenly on the canvas and incised lines in it with a stylus before it was dry. Once it had dried, he applied black paint and then wiped off with a cloth. The black paint remained on the incised concave surfaces, highlighting sharp-textured lines that dance freely across the soft expanse of the white background.
