Nakatani Tai (1909-1993), born in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, has earned a high reputation as an artist of Western painting in the postwar Japan. The theme of his painting was rooted in the daily life, especially of coal mine and miner, potter and clay pit or laborer. Nakatani had always stood close to those people with the eyes of humanism. In memory of Nakatani Tai, 20 years after his death, we present about 100 works including unpublished pieces and focus on the essence of Nakatani's Art.
