Humorous and human-like faces are here in Misawa Atsuhiko’s sculpture called ‘ANIMALS’. These ANIMALS, which we can see the traces of chisel and painted in oils, gather the attention of the public and just cannot be ignored. Misawa is interested in the border between the real animals and the images of the animals which we have. He creates the sculptures of lively, just like animal.
The sculptor, Misawa Atsuhiko was born in Kyoto in 1961. Since 2000, he has been creating the wooden life-sized sculptures of animals which are mainly made from camphor tree. He won the Hirakushi Denchu Prize in 2001 and has earned a high reputation as an artist. This exhibition presents his sculptures of animals, and also the drawings and small pieces. For this time, Toyoshima Hideki from gm projects collaborates with creating the space of exhibition. We wish you enjoy the world of ‘ANIMALS’. |
