Since 2000, Mie Prefectural Art Museum has organized exhibitions in the Gallery, featuring artists of middle standing, who have something to do with Mie Prefecture. This year, we present you recent works by Tachi Katsuo (1964- 2009) who was born in Mie prefecture and lives in Osaka Prefecture. Tachi Katsuo was born in Mie Prefecture in 1964. He developed his acitivities since the middle of 1980's. Always his interest has been focusing on the way how painting should be realized. At that time he never depends on figurative motif nor all-over field. Rather he explores how image is brought about on empty field of canvas. With strokes accompanied by gestual movement and transparent expanse of colors, image is being becoming into existence on his canvas, often with feather-like shapes. |
