Kobayashi Kenzo was born at Yokkaichi in Mie the 7th February, 1924. There’ll be no mistake that main characteristic of his work is its fairly-tale image. But his artistic development shows some change. In his works dated 1950 we can discern bright colors and clear images. But another work of the same year and next year shows his interest toward Klee and Cubism. Afterwards fluidity and brightness of color augmented, and in works around 1960 images are devoured in inundation of colors. From inside of ground dissolving various colors, appear images of bird in the middle of 1960s. At one time birds flying on high in the sky are grasped as abstracted silhouette. On another works birds on the ground are encircled by the earth filled with color dots. In either case birds are depicted as profile. In 1970s relationship of color and image became regulated, and attained to vision of idealized countryside painted by cool colors such as bright green or blue. Kobayashi died on April, 2001.
