ASADA Masashi, born at Tsu in 1979, who won the 34th KIMURA Ibei Prize in 2009, published his family portrait centered upon bonds or recollection of the family for the first time as his graduation work in 2000. Afterwards in 2003 he went to Tokyo and worked at photographic studio, and in 2007 started his carrier as a photographer. Asada's photography is not only representation of some recollection of the family, but also intends toward the future focusing upon the bonds of the family. His works reperesent all members of Asada family dressing as firemen, breeders or barmen, etc., utilizing self-timer of the camera. His characteristic method collaborating with various people is also noticeable. In recent days Asada does not only work with his own family, but also visits all over Japan in answer to requests, producing family portraits bringing about each family's peculiarity. This exhibition consists of not only his works up to this time, but also many new works with video and installation. Asada's works full of humour delight viewers, and at the sama time will give opportunity to think over attachment to each one's homeland, happiness and future of each family, and moreover extension and depth of photographic art. |
