5 October - 4 November 1991 Hours: 9:30a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Admission: charged Spain is a country overflowing in creativity, who in her long history has given birth to such great artists like Velazquez and Goya. And in the 20th century, with the activities of extraordinary painters such as Picasso and Miró, she has become a leader on world’s art circle. The difficult situations during the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War which followed it inflicted severe trials upon artists. But in the post-war art scene, new international artists such as Tapies emerged who, while inheriting the tradition of the past, responded to the French informel movement. While showing their relation to the American art which was the information center of the post-war art circle, these artists sought after and developed their original expressions within their country. The rich artistic climate has produced, especially since the latter half of the 1970s, a young generation of artists which followed, and art scene filled with vitality.informel movement.
