Exhibition Overview
Uda Tekison was born in Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture in 1896. Fond of drawing pictures as a childhood, Tekison began studying paintings with Nakamura Sashu, a locally based artist. In 1913, Tekison moved to Kyoto and studied Nihon-ga (Japanese-style painting) with influential teachers such as Kikuchi Houbun and Kikuchi Keigetsu, who both known as the master of Nihon-ga in Kyoto. Finally, Tekison established a leading position in Modern Nihon-ga.
About 40 years after the exhibition held in our museum, we present the large scale solo exhibition of works by Uda Tekison.
