About

This summer, the retrospective exhibition of Raymond Savignac (1907-2002), a prominent poster artist in France, will be held at Mie Prefectural Art Museum. With the cooperation of the Bibliothèque Forney and Ville de Paris, you will encounter his representative works from French lenders, including ones in huge format, scaling 2-4 meters long.
In the exhibition, works are classified, not in the chronological order, but by themes such as his favorite motives ( “animal”, “child”, “Paris”) , important clients (tobacco company, car industry, “Bic”) and expressing formula (“Pointing”), so that you can see the artist’s simple but extraordinary visual expression to convey messages and charms of product it is advertising. The works of Savignac will enchant any visitors of the exhibition with their charm, as they did for people in Paris at those days.
